Could your reed-making use a tune-up? Or a jump-start? This 90 minute social reedmaking session might be exactly what you need. I'm as hands-on as you need, no more. Oboists are social creatures - let's embrace that! Bring reeds in progress, or bring blanks, or bring a knife and a smile and we'll start from scratch. Details HERE.
WORK WITH ME
I offer reed making mastery and a deep experience and understanding in working with oboe technique and musical training for oboists at all levels.
Every reed is handmade with the same high-quality cane that I use for myself, and meets my own high standards before it is sanitized and promptly shipped out.
I help musicians to get past the STRUGGLE to find ease and abundance in their creative or entrepreneurial projects.
The Invincible Oboist will change how you feel about being an oboist.
It is so worth it! The [Zero to Reedmaker] class was great and I learned more about reed making in it than I did all through my college music degree. My reeds and process are more consistent now, and I feel far less stressed out about reed making. Jennet is a natural teacher, and you can tell that she is passionate about the oboe and about helping people succeed. I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in learning more about oboe reed making.
Julie Combs, on Zero to Reedmaker
This class really changed my life and my mind and my spirit about the oboe. It helped center me and give me the confidence to get back into reedmaking, practicing, and playing after being away. The instruction was clear, articulate, and succinct. Suggestions were offered with grace and kindness. The smallest victories were celebrated in community, and the obstacles were treated as survivable “speed bumps.” Anyone who wants to improve their physical reed skills and hone their mind game about reeds needs to take this class!
For me TIO was eye opening; so many things I did not know. Weekly meetings were extremely helpful for that course. I have loved the oboe since high school (1974 grad) and had decided that at my age, playing oboe would be too hard because of all the variables involved – especially reeds. Zero to Reedmaker helped me realize why store bought reeds did not work for me. I found good reed makers and am close to making my own and Oboe FLOW has helped my confidence tremendously. One-to-One meetings and the masterclass format have given me feedback that allows me to grow and play better. I think the most important thing that helps is the community. Playing alone or with a teacher was not enough to help me blossom. The music, feedback, and camaraderie have created a safe environment that has encouraged me to be brave enough to reach for my dreams. I am making music and I love it!!!!!
Not everyone has the opportunity to be a part of a musical community so this Zoom course is awesome. The masterclass format allows everyone to play and receive kudos as well as feedback. There is no comparison and I have gained enough confidence to play in front of others. This has fueled my desire to practice, improve, and grow as a musician. I am no longer playing alone at home. I am part of a supportive group and I highly recommend it.
