Gratitude

My Long Tone Meditation today is on Gratitude.  Feel free to join me in playing a note after each statement.

If you don't have any long tones to play - if you're not even an oboist - you could still breathe with me.  I feel like we might all need this right now.

Let’s start with a quiet deep breath.

I am grateful for the silence before a note, and the silence after it ends.

I am grateful for the slow silence of the end of the year, and the peace that comes from leaning into the darkness of winter.

I am grateful for the coming spring.

I am grateful for the health and safety of my family, and of yours.

I am grateful for the connections I've made this year and the wonderful people I have met and spoken to and worked with.

I am grateful for Zoom and the rest of the technology and innovation that has made 2020 possible!

I am grateful for the vaccines, and for the scientists and doctors who will make 2021 better.

I am grateful that making music is a thing I can do alone.

I am grateful that making music is a thing to share, and that you are sharing this with me.

I am grateful for the community of oboists, musicians, and creative people who are all trying to be better all the time.

I am grateful for you.

Do you have a gratitude to share today?
